Ideas Ark - the European incubator of green ideas dedicated to youth organizations
Between February 21-28, 2022, Monomyths Association hosted in Bucharest, Romania, an intensive training course on entrepreneurship education for 22 youth workers active in 10 international youth NGOs. The course is part of the Ideas Ark 2nd edition project, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, through which youth NGOs become acquainted with sustainable business models and entrepreneurship education curricula built around the European Green Deal.
Over the course of eight days, 22 participants from Denmark, Lithuania, Estonia, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, Reunion (overseas French territory) and Romania discovered the European framework of entrepreneurial skills ENTRECOMP, while also testing a selection of education methods specific to entrepreneurship education in a non-formal context and prototyping ideas of green programs and initiatives. The course aimed to provide a new perspective on the role of youth work in the context of the Green Deal and to discuss opportunities for learning, mentoring, career guidance and funding for a greener Europe and sustainable development practices.
The Ideas Ark training course was an invitation for youth workers to rediscover their creativity, take initiative, explore tools and effective methods of entrepreneurship education. Furthermore, they experimented and became familiar with the launch stages of a sustainable start-up and discovered how to generate entrepreneurial project ideas using Sustainable Business Model Canvas.
“After a first edition in November 2018, during which 36 youth workers became acquainted with social entrepreneurship and prototyped 5 ideas of social start-ups, we decided to continue this initiative and explore how we can integrate new green practices in working with young people, but also how we can mentor and support young people to propose sustainable and nature-friendly initiatives in their communities, aligned with the European Green Pact", said Emilia Radu, president of Monomyths Association.
Within the project, the youth workers and organizations participating in the training course contributed to the creation of a free to access digital map that, once finished, will include 100 models of green start-ups initiated by young people and non-profit organizations, #Green100, aimed to promote green ideas that solve global problems.
The Ideas Ark project is being implemented by the Monomyths Association between August 2021 to April 2022, with financial support from the European Commission's Erasmus+ Programme and partner organizations: Tarptautinis bendradarbiavimo centras (Lithuania), Backlash (Spain), Danish Youth Team (Danemark), Seiklejate Vennaskond (Estonia), Sdruzhenie Walk Together (Bulgaria), Entrepreneurship And Social Economy Group (Greece), Au Carrefour De l'Océan Indien (Reunion), FAJUB - Federa O Das Associa Es Juvenis De Braga (Portugal), Ludbreška Udruga Mladih Entuzijasta (Croatia).
