The Owl Hill
The Owl Hill is the highpoint of Nemunas - Neris confluence, remarkable for a breathtaking panorama. As long as it can be remembered, people would love the place for its romantic atmosphere and the spectacular view of the Old town and the city center. The top of the hill also used to be the first residence of Mykalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis Art gallery.

In this gorgeous place of Zaliakalnis district, lays the art faculty of Justinas Vienožinskis. In 1924, one of the most renown sculptors of Lithuania, Vincas Grybas, decorated the fence of the school with amazing owl sculptures. Ever since, the hill has been known as The Owl Hill.
The school buildings and the remarkable fence gained the title of a cultural monument and from 2007 belong to a national list of the most important historical, archeological and cultural objects of Lithuania.
In 2016, a film shooting of a historical drama „Pelėdų kalnas“ (The Owl Hill) by a director Audrius Juzėnas took place here. The storyline tells about the Partisan resistance movement in Kaunas, between 1947 and 1951. According to the filmmakers, the Owl Hill preserved the authenticity, the spirit of the time period and, therefore, suited perfectly.
